Mei Ling

Sleeping Beauty

A Masterpiece

Beautiful intricacies wove together and formed a friend:

one whom with which,  I shared many of my firsts

one who taught me what, and more often,

what not to wear

(*that silver top goes back on the hanger into the wardrobe of shame*)

one who’s laughter makes her eyes twinkle

who’s feet beat a rhythm that fills the dancefloor,

who’s sparkle illuminates rooms until there is

no need

for

other

lights

You are a thief;

you stole our hearts long ago,

yet you keep them as safe as if they were fragile jewels

and you fight forever for their protection.

Come on little one, the night is young, there is still dancing to be done

But yours is amongst the stars and across our hearts

From a distance, our feet move

as your rhythm starts

Lights grow dim as we recall your spark,

in honour to the memory,

of one who was, and will forever be

our beautiful friend,

Miss Charlotte Lee
